Daisy Chow opened up her first brick-and-mortar location in Arlington in 2019 after a series of successful pop-ups in Brookline that got her a loyal following. As the name suggests, Breadboard has a selection of gourmet breads like sourdough and Danish rye but her pastries - including her signature wacky cake and kolaches - often steal the show. Chow, who is originally from Texas and whose own parents were restauranteurs, actually majored in Electrical Engineering in college before realizing food was really what she was passionate about. "A breadboard in electrical engineering is a component in circuitry, an intro of sorts. A breadboard is a way to test out circuits before you make a real one.... It's the basis for the field," Daisy says. "I feel like bread is very basic. It ties the electrical engineering and the baking together. “ Everything at Breadboard is made by hand, rather than machines, and everything is freshly made the morning of or night before.
